Spring colour and a shawl

The daffodil bulbs I planted and protected from squirrels all winter are opening up this week.

I've finished knitting my Pi Shawl. Here it is in its amoeba-like unblocked state. I had to buy a fourth ball to finish the last four points of the edging! It's beautiful yarn, though, so I will find another use for the rest of the ball.

It only measures 57 cm (22 inches) across before blocking, but I'm pretty sure it has a lot of room to grow in blocking. I'm looking forward to seeing it after it is blocked!

And we're into March...

There are definite signs of spring all around this week. Green things are sprouting and budding, and I saw a first pink bud-covered cherry tree today.

Daffodils and tulips sprouting.

The autumn mum is springing back to life.

Hyacinths are blooming.

I'm still working on the Pi Shawl. After four evenings of knitting I am half-way around the knitted-on garter stitch lace border. There will be 144 of the little triangles. I think that Dave thinks I'm crazy, but I'm actually kind of enjoying it. I'm a bit worried I'm going to run out of yarn, but I can always buy another ball and have most of it for another project. The 576 stitch rounds really sucked up the yarn!
